Privacy and security statement
The Department of Public Works is committed to protecting user privacy. We understand and appreciate that visitors and users of this website are concerned about their privacy and the confidentiality and security of any information that may be provided to us.
The Queensland Government has established a privacy regime for the Queensland public sector based on the eleven (11) Information Privacy Principles. These principles are contained in an Information Standard that agencies are required to adhere to. A copy of this Standard can be accessed at http://www.dcilgps.qld.gov.au
When you visit a Department of Public Works web site, our server makes a record of your visit and logs certain information for statistical purposes only. No attempt is or will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a power to inspect activity logs.
E-mail correspondence sent to the Department will be treated as a public record and will be retained as required by the Libraries and Archives Act 1988 and other relevant regulations. Your name and address details will not be added to a mailing list, nor will we disclose these details to third parties without your consent or unless required by law. E-mail messages may be monitored by our website support staff for system trouble shooting and maintenance purposes.
When you pay an account or purchase something through the departmental websites, your personal and financial details are protected at all stages of the transaction. In order to process any payment we need to know your name, address details, e-mail address, and credit card details. Your credit card details may be stored on servers at any stage of the transaction.
A payment or purchase facility over the phone, through a call centre or over the counter may also be offered. Personal cheques and postal orders for payment in person will require production of sufficient identification. When paying by personal cheque, a current drivers licence or passport as evidence of identity is required.
Your personal information will be protected at all stages of any transaction as far as existing systems will allow as the Department progresses towards compliance with all the Information Privacy Principles contained in the Information Standard 42.
